With an all-Democrat City Council, an all-Democrat County Commission, a Democrat Senator, and an all-Democrat slate of State Representatives, the "progressive" agenda is driving extreme outcomes in Asheville. We need balance.
The progressive left enables crime and addiction, then secures grants to fight the causes they are exacerbating. They get people killed by getting in the way of true recovery. That, has to stop. We need positive outcomes, not bigger problems.
People need affordable housing. The rent rate is a heavy burden for most citizens. Incentives should ensure that large private investment firms factor a percentage of units be made available for purchase by working poor and middle-class buyers. We should partner with investors to help foster home ownership by building up payment assistance programs for the same subsect of potential buyers.
The activist-driven leadership pushing sanctuary city-style policies has caused a major decline in safety and has damaged Asheville's reputation as a friendly, safe, and affordable place to live, work, and play.
Individual property rights of owners who rent out their homes or space to vacationers should be protected. The money they earn is spent in the community and helps the local economy.
School boards attack parent's rights and then fail to produce students who are ready for the workforce. We must empower parents, build strong families, and raise our expectations of education. We must strengthen school choice laws while supporting public education.
The 15-minute city is a real social construct in communist China. It is also a real goal in the Mayfield agenda. City council and county commissioners want you to bike to work and live in community-style housing to reduce the carbon footprint and save the planet. Their ideology is flawed and doesn't work in rugged mountainous terrain. We need a better approach to preserving our natural heritage.
We pay taxes on absolutely everything in North Carolina. In return, we get potholes, poor infrastructure, high rent, high crime, and failing schools. The current leadership wants to raise taxes and increase water, parking, and sanitation rates. This is not the time to increase burdens on taxpayers. We should be looking to offset current expenditures for average people.
People need real help. They need hope. We need effective solutions, not just a one-sided agenda that has done very little to improve the lives of average citizens.
She knows how to Build a Better Buncombe and secure a brighter future for generations to come.
Let's turn this around. Let's create balance, safety, and affordability in Asheville.
Kristie Sluder has successfully built programs and developed policies that statistically reduced crime, homelessness, and addiction. Policies that increased incomes and produced stability.
That's why you should vote for Kristie Sluder in November.
Bottom up, not just top down. The states are just as capable of proposing, debating and voting on amendments to then be ratified by the states as Congress is. In fact, the states should be more capable! They Created Congress when they formed the federal government!
Why would any true Constitutionalist not have faith in the wisdom that directed the founding fathers to empower the states to collectively amend the constitution and not leave that privileged responsibility solely to the Congress? They Knew. They knew state governments were closer to the people and all power is reserved to the people that is not abdicated to serve a greater good through elected representatives tasked with the business of carrying out the will of the people.
